David Matheson

Versatile. Creative. Professional – David Matheson plays all kinds of functions.

Sometimes he sings funny songs between speakers at corporate events, sometimes he plays piano music at parties, either solo or with a group. Jazz, folk, funny, singing, not singing, piano, guitar – whatever is needed!

Matheson is a highly sought after Toronto-based multi-instrumentalist, composer, singer-songwriter and one quarter of the Canadian multi-platinum selling folk rock group Moxy Früvous.  As a founding member of Moxy Früvous, Matheson has made seven albums, with sales of over a half million dollars, and he has amassed an ardent fan base throughout Canada, the U.S. and Europe.

Matheson has appeared on NBC’s Late Night with Conan O’Brien, CBS Sunday Morning and a variety of CTV and CBC shows. For eight years, Matheson entertained audiences at tapings of CBC’s hit show, Royal Canadian Air Farce with his duo The Ground Crew.

In 2001, he released a self-titled solo CD of original songs, and he has made two CD’s worth of material for Air Farce Productions. Fans of Stuart McLean’s Vinyl Café recognize Matheson as a featured singer/songwriter on CBC radio during the 2003 season. Matheson is also in-demand among his peers as a producer/musical director; he has produced many records for Canadian talents including David Francey, Mike Ford, James Miller, Chris Patterson and Kyp Harness among many others. As a composer, he has lent his considerable talent to writing original music for short films and television. Matheson co-wrote the theme for Royal Canadian Air Farce, and the theme to National Geographic’s animated TV series, Iggy Arbuckle, which is broadcast worldwide.

“Appearing at our national convention, The Ground Crew was original, musically adept, and very entertaining. After a long day of business meetings, they provided much needed comic relief.  At the end of their show, they received a much deserved standing ovation.  The Ground Crew would be an excellent choice for any organization looking at adding fun to their corporate function.”
